FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Indie Slasher Flick Serves Up Sweet Taste of Revenge
With premiere of 'Antisocial Behaviour' December 06
For any pensioner too
scared to leave the house, or the millions of Brits frustrated with the
'I ain't bovvered' attitude of youths smashing vodka bottles in
playgrounds and setting light to cars, Vinson Pike's directorial debut,
'Antisocial Behaviour' (http://www.antisocial-behaviour.com), will
strike a chord. The indie horror flick premieres to cast and crew on
December 11, 2006, and invites the attention of anyone with an axe to
grind.
Shot on a budget of £100,000 - an amount professional filmmakers
can spend on catering alone - and filmed over three years, the story
portrays Jakob Kelser (played by newcomer David Watkins), an isolated
man living on a run-down council estate. Pushed to the brink by the
relentless torment and abuse of local youths, he takes the law into his
own hands; order is gradually restored to his life, as one by one he
dispatches each lout to a just end.
Pike, who wrote, directed, produced and edited the film with colleagues
John Wilson, David Watkins and Steve Wilson, says: "Our film is a teen
horror for adults - entertaining and suspenseful, but with a real edge.
Addressing the issue of how much people suffer from the scourge of
antisocial behaviour in the UK means the audience will find the fate of
the yobs at the hands of Kelser particularly satisfying."
He continues:
"Antisocial Behaviour may not have the gloss of a Hollywood production,
but our film is all set to follow the success of cult independent films
such as 'Clerks' and 'The Blair Witch Project'. Here in the UK,
seasoned film veterans are keen to lend their talents to independent
filmmaking, proving there is an appetite for the freshness, irreverence
and creative imagination that independent films offer over big budget
crowd pleasers."
The quirkiness of Antisocial Behaviour even extended to casting for the
film. Vinson Pike invited anyone with an interest in the film to email
photos and contact details to him. Pike explains: "A cast of amateur
actors drives home the realism to the audience and makes the drama more
absorbing; people aren't sitting there thinking,'Was he in The Bill or
Eastenders?'"
Pike is actively seeking distributors for Antisocial Behaviour, with
the aim of reaching international, as well as national audiences.
